The StackSpot team was present at AWS re:Invent 2023 in full force to showcase the power of the development platform to the world.

StackSpot attended AWS re:Invent 2023 in Las Vegas in late November, presenting Itaú Unibanco’s digital modernization case, the impacts of generative AI, and a live demo of the development platform. This article highlights all the contributions that StackSpot brought to AWS re:Invent!

AWS re:Invent 2023

Let’s begin by explaining the relevance of this conference for the global cloud computing community. This week-long event showcased more than 2,000 technical sessions, keynote lectures delivered by prestigious names in the industry, talks about innovation, product launches, exhibitions, and networking opportunities with professionals from across the globe.

The public’s interest and content shared make AWS re:Invent 2023 one of the most anticipated events of the year, a place where anyone who works in technology wants to be. That’s why we were there talking to more than 50,000 professionals.

Welcome to Las Vegas!

Before people arrived at the conference, they learned about StackSpot at the airport.

At the arrivals lobby, passengers landing in Las Vegas saw an advertisement about our presence at the event: “The Enterprise Developer Platform that turns your Context into Efficiency at AWS re:Invent”.

This was a great way to show the world that we would be at the event with our main proposal: transform context into efficiency through our development platform.

Next to the phrase is the company logo and the words Enterprise Development Platform below. The photo also shows several people passing by and two panels with the greeting Welcome to Las Vegas.

StackSpot: a stop for everyone

The booth was set up for conversations about StackSpot, for demos to show how the platform works, and to discuss the impacts already experienced by our clients.

And we could be seen from afar! The LED display presenting StackSpot and the results achieved caught people’s eyes, but also delivered assertive messages about the product.

That’s where our goals and results were outlined, such as:

  • transformation of context into efficiency,
  • 90% reduction in the average production time of applications,
  • modernization through the development platform,
  • faster onboarding allowing productivity from day one,
  • creation of microservices in 10 minutes following recommended practices.

Below there are large panels with phrases about StackSpot's proposal, such as Your context, more efficiency. In the foreground, orange cubes carry the StackSpot logo.

StackSpot team on stage at AWS re:invent 2023

In addition to the booth and activations, our reps were speakers in three sessions of AWS re:Invent 2023. The first was “Modernizing applications and eliminating 200M+ lines of legacy code with our CEO Bruno Pierobon  and Itaú IT Director/CTO Fábio Napoli.

“Generative AI’s impact on software engineering team productivity was the second lecture, by StackSpot Product Manager João Batista Neto  and StackSpot Software Dev Specialist Luiz Gustavo Borges.

João returned to the stage for a demo of StackSpot AI in AI made just for you: The power of hyper-contextualization, delivering a hands-on session on how the tool works and its benefits.

Shall we learn more about them?

Modernizing applications

In Modernizing applications and eliminating 200M+ lines of legacy code, the two leaders discussed the challenge of working with legacy applications and the complex task of modernizing COBOL applications.

The examples of this process were the tools and methodologies used by Itaú, Latin America’s leading bank with more than 70 million customers.

That part of the presentation allowed the audience to appreciate the power of StackSpot. Itaú took advantage of the platform to revamp its modernization journey and support construction of cutting-edge applications.

During the presentation, Pierobon noted the leap in a company’s technology structure by relying on EDP and AI:

“When you combine the EDP —that knows about the evolution of the technology vision of the company— and you have our agent working together with the developer, we can do small refactoring. Our agent can suggest small refactoring in the code to keep alignment with the evolution in the EDP. When you combine these, you can create a legacy-free company and you don’t need to modernize applications after five years.”

Generative AI’s impact

On the following day, our team presented StackSpot’s pioneering approach to generative artificial intelligence: hyper-contextualization of applications.

The talk on Generative AI’s impact on software engineering team productivity showed results in the form of increased productivity and discovered potential to speed up software implementation, thus combining technology and practicality for development teams.

Watch the entire talk below.

AI made just for you

A quick but objective presentation AI made just for you: The power of hyper outlined StackSpot AI’s benefits, such as hyper-contextualization, which is really just adaptation of the code based on the context of each company.

The presentation showed that StackSpot AI has the potential to modernize code, refactor, document, clean up, test, and create tailored applications. Check out the live demo of StackSpot AI in this video.

Press conference

StackSpot CEO Bruno Pierobon, Itaú IT Director/CTO Fábio Napoli, and Itaú CTO/CDO Moisés Nascimento spoke in a press conference to provide an in-depth view of StackSpot for reporters from the United States and Latin America.

This opportunity allowed us to delve deeper into EDP, AI and Cloud Services and answer questions from the media. Yahoo and IT Forum published news articles based on that gathering.

AWS re:Invent 2023: mission accomplished

StackSpot’s time at AWS re:Invent 2023 was a valuable experience, with ideas shared and lessons learned from professionals from all over the world.

We took StackSpot beyond Brazil’s borders, presented our ideas and projects, shared our experience with generative AI and the history of legacy modernization, showing the world the potential of the development platform.
